1. Please remind your children to only play by the grassy area during recess time. Do not go to places where there is no adult supervision. Although there are four parents doing ground supervision every week, we still need all your kids’ cooperation to ensure our campus safety.  Thank you. 請各位家長告知家中子女，下課時間請小朋友盡量留在草地上玩耍，請勿跑到建築後面或是人少的地方，以維護自身安全。雖然校園內有義工家長巡邏，但還需要大家配合，才能確保校園安全，謝謝。

Student snack store 學生福利社:

Snack Store during 2nd recess will start this week. Your choice of snack and a juice box costs only $1.  Please encourage your students to stop by and get some treats. We will also have Jamba Juice coming on campus once a month.   點心時間到囉!  第二節下課時，我們將有小點心販賣的活動，自選一樣點心加果汁只要一美元，歡迎您與您的孩子前來購買。

PTA Parents Ninja Workout Club (NWC) is returning and we will start again in October. Our parent baseball team has already started their Sunday workout, join us if you would like to get under the sun during those precious three hours.  Contact Jerry Han if you are interested.  家長會將於十月開始延續去年 "健人就是腳勤俱樂部"。我們的棒球隊可以 藉由這個時間多多認識其他的家長, 也可以強健身體.    請有興趣參加的家長與Jerry 聯絡。

Also, our school baseball team is going to order SDCA custom jerseys/t-shirts. Please see below for a sample (sorry, only Dads for now). You can choose your own name and number on the jersey. 重陽節

農曆九月九日 (2015/10/21)，又稱為雙九節、老人節。因為《易經》中把“六”定為陰數，把“九”定為陽數，九月九日，日月並陽，兩九相重，故而叫重陽，也叫重九，古人認為是個值得慶賀的吉利日子，並且從很早就開始過此節日，重陽節作為一個以娛樂為主的節日，主要節俗活動是登高、賞菊、喝菊花酒、插茱萸、還要吃糕。重陽節早在戰國時期就已經形成，到了唐代，重陽被正式定為民間節日，此後歷朝歷代沿襲至今。民間在該日有登高的風俗，所以重陽節又稱“登高節”，此外還有茱萸節、菊花節等說法。由於九月初九“九九”諧音是“久久”，有長久之意，所以常在此日祭祖與推行敬老崇孝活動。重陽節與除、清、盂三節也是中國傳統祭祖的四大節日。

Chong Yang Festival

Observed on the ninth day of the ninth month in the Chinese calendar, it is a traditional Chinese holiday mentioned in writing since before the East Han period (before AD 25). According to the ancient Chinese divination text, I Ching, nine is a yang number; the ninth day of the ninth lunar month (or double nine) has too much yang (a traditional Chinese spiritual concept) and is thus a potentially dangerous date. Hence, the day is also called "Double Yang Festival" (重陽節). To protect against danger, it is customary to climb a high mountain, drink chrysanthemum wine, and wear the zhuyu (茱萸) plant. During this holiday the Chinese also visit the graves of their ancestors to pay their respects: clean the grave site, repaint inscriptions, and lay out food offerings.

Special Congressional Recognition Presented to SDCA from the Office of Rep. Scott Peters

Last Sunday, Mr. Howard Ou, representative of Rep. Scott Peters and our adult class student, presented to us a special congressional recognition on our successful hosting of the Double Ten Flag Raising Ceremony and our continued effort in promoting the Chinese language and culture in the San Diego community. We are so motivated by the recognition and would like to share it with our parent community. Thank you, Mr. Ou and Rep. Peters!
