Welcome back to school! We are excited to start the 2nd semester of the school year. In the 2nd semester we have planned many academic activities to complement classroom Chinese language learning, these include class Typing Contest, class Storytelling Contest, school-wide Poetry Recitation Contest, and class Chinese Character Recognition Contest. The school-wide contest is optional. In class contests are intended to challenge the students in their familiar environment so all students are encouraged to participate. There will also be a midterm and a final exam for Kindergarten and above. Our annual Graduation Ceremony is on last day of school. Many awards will be given out that day so all families are invited to participate. The school calendar has been posted to our website. Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the office at any time. We look forward to a great 2nd semester! 歡迎回到學校！我們很高興要開始本學年的第二學期。在第二學期中，我們計劃了許多學術性的活動，來加強使用中文的機會，其中包括各班級中文輸入比賽，講故事比賽，全校性的詩詞朗誦比賽，和班級中文認字比賽。全校性的比賽是自由報名參加。班級比賽的目的，是要學生在自己熟悉的環境中來挑戰自己，因此我們要求所有的學生都要參加。此外幼稚園以上的班級，本學期也將有期中考試和期末考試。畢業典禮將會在學校的最後一週上課時舉行。比賽的得獎獎狀和獎盃將於那天頒發，所有的家庭都歡迎參加。您可以到學校的網站下載最新的行事曆。如果您有任何問題，請不要猶豫，隨時和辦公室聯繫。我們期待著一個更好的第二學期！

1. 01/06/2013 PTA meeting/Room Parents Meeting will be in Multi-Purpose Room (Community Hall) at 2:00pm. PTA will discuss the upcoming Chinese New Year & 25th Anniversary Celebration preparation (Week 20). Please make sure at least one representative of your class attends the meeting. 家長大會/班代表大會將于1月6日下午2點在多功能教室舉行。家長會將要討論將在第二十週舉行的中國新年和二十五週年慶的準備事宜。請各班至少派一名代表參加。

If you are looking for activities to keep your little ones occupied during the break, why not encourage them to work on the SDCA Yearbook Cover Art Contest project. This year is a special 25th Year Anniversary for SDCA. Cover art contest is a great activity to provide a channel for our students to show their artistic interests and talents. All entries will be included in the Yearbook, along with student name and class number. Additionally, all participants will receive a surprise reward at the end of the school year.
