- Thanks to the encouragement from our teachers, this year we have 172 students participating in the poetry recitation contest, a historical record! Therefore, we will be having the contests over 3 days, on 3/16, 3/23, and 3/30. Because of this, we also need additional volunteers, if you are able to volunteer to help on the third day 3/30, please contact the PTA. Thank you for your support. 非常感謝老師們的鼓勵, 我們今年有172位同學報名參加詩詞朗誦比賽!! 創下創校以來的最高紀錄!! 因此我們今年的比賽要分為三天, 3/16, 3/23, 及 3/30。我們第三天比賽也需要義工幫忙,如果您能幫忙請與家長會聯絡,感謝您的支持。
- Poetry Recitation Contest Dates and Groups:
- 3/16: Bilingual A, Regular A, Regular B, Adult Group (57 contestants)
- 3/23: All Other Bilingual Groups (55 contestants)
- 3/30: Regular C, Regular D, and Regular E (60 contestants)
詩詞朗誦比賽的日期是:
- 3/16: 雙語幼稚組, 普通幼稚組, 普通初小組, 成人組(57人)

- Our poetry recitation contest will begin next week. Parents, please remind your child that there is a 3 point deduction for mentioning her/his name during the contest. Bilingual A group and Regular A group, please check in at the community hall at 1:15 pm, Regular B group and Adult group, please check in at the community Hall at 3:00 pm. 下週3/16開始有一年一度的詩詞朗誦比賽，請家長務必告訴孩子們不可以說出自己的名字，違者扣總分三分。請雙語幼稚組和普通幼稚組於3/16下午1：15pm到Community Hall報到。普通初小組及成人組請於下午3:00pm報到。
- This week (3/9/14) is the SAT II simulation test, participating students please be at the computer room (US115) by 11:45 am. The test starts promptly at 12 noon. Please bring your photo ID (school ID or driver’s license), 2B pencils, and an eraser. This Sunday is also the day that daylight savings time starts, please don't be late. 本週 (3/9/14) 有中文SAT II模擬考，參加SAT II模擬考的同學，請於早上11：45到電腦教室集合，12：00準時考試，請考生自備學生証或駕駛執照, 2B鉛筆，及橡皮擦來考試。本週日日光節約開始，請勿遲到。
- 2012 VIRGINIA HOM FUNG MEMORIAL/YOUTH CHINESE LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIP: The House of China (HOC) has awarded scholarships each year to SD County youths, 18 years of age or younger, currently enrolled in Chinese Schools in SD. There are three groups: beginning, intermediate and advanced, based on recommendations by teachers. Essays shall be submitted in hand-written Chinese. Please contact your teacher for more details. 紀念馮譚珍貴女士2014年中國館中文獎學金: 聖地牙哥中國館每年春季提供獎學金給就讀本市中文學校的學生，以鼓勵十八歲以下青少年學習中文。獎學金分為初級組、中級組，和高級組三組。組別由老師推薦，最後由評委會評定。每組得獎名額三位,請家長們鼓勵貴子弟報名參加，詳情與班級老師聯絡。
- To encourage Chinese study, we provide awards to our students who have continuously studied Chinese for 6, 9, or 12 years. If your child qualifies, please obtain application form from your teacher. If the previous years of study were from another Chinese school, proper documentation must be submitted along with the application form. Application deadline is March 31. 本校為了鼓勵孩子們堅持不斷的學習中文，我們提供獎勵給連續就讀中文6年，9年，12年的學生，如果您的孩子符合條件，請向老師索取申請單。如果是轉校生，則必須提供外校就讀的證明，例如成績單，獎狀之類的文件證明，申請日期到3/31截止。
**** PTA & Activities 家長會與活動 *****
- Parents Seminar #3 “Active for Life - Entrepreneurship and Volunteering Service” and PTA/room parents meeting on 3/9 1:40pm to 4:00pm. This week we’ll have our last parents seminar led by some illustrious speakers from the local community. The seminar will be free to SDCA families but we encourage each SDCA family to voluntarily donate $5 dollars to support the school and PTA to help bring more meaningful programs to SDCA. Non-SDCA parents will be charged by $5 at the seminar entrance. The seminar will be given in mostly Mandarin this time. Starbucks coffee and delicious snacks will be provided during the seminar. Please don’t miss the opportunity to attend this year’s last Seminar. Thank you. 學校將於本周3/9下午1:40至4:00舉辦"來自星星的他們 學苑超能力密傳講座"及家長與班代表大會。今年度最後一個家長講座很榮幸的為大家邀請到幾位在聖地牙哥的傑出前輩，講座題目是"活出積極的人生 - 創業與志工服務"。貴賓講員們不但在各自的專業領域或創業上很成功，在義工服務上更是本地華人的模範，讓我們學習他們豐富的經驗與積極的人生觀吧。本講座將免費開放給中華學苑的家長，但鼓勵每個家庭自願捐款美金五元作為支持學校舉辦更多講座與活動的費用。非中華學苑的家長將於入口處收費美金五元。這次講座有提供星巴克咖啡及美味小點心唷! 請別錯過今年最後一個精采的講座, 謝謝您的參與和配合。
- Children’s Cultural Activities and Snack Store during 2nd recess. Your choice of snack plus a juice box for only $1. Please encourage your students to stop by and get some treats. Also come and play Jianzi with your friends and kids. 點心時間與兒童民俗體育活動持續展開! 第二節下課時，我們將有好玩的踢毽子與小點心販賣的活動，自選一樣點心加果汁只要一美元，歡迎您與您的孩子前來參與及購買。
- SDCA Read-A-Thon Kick-off. Parents: This week your kids will receive a reading log form for Read-A-Thon event. This fun challenge is to read only 8 Chinese books in 25 days (from 3/10 to 4/4). You will be granted 3 student store coupons if you read 8 books or more. We’ll also select the ones who read the most books to win some surprise grand prizes. So please assist your kids in selecting the appropriate books for their reading levels. Reading with your child(ren) is also a wonderful bonding opportunity. Go! SDCA students! 中華學苑 - 閱讀馬拉松開跑囉! 家長們，這週您的孩子會收到一張read-a-thon 紀錄表，歡迎您的孩子加入這有趣的閱讀馬拉松！只要孩子在3/10到4/4日內，25天讀完8本中文書，就可以得到3張學生商店coupons 。另外，讀最多本書的前幾名學生有機會可以得到高級神秘禮物唷! 請您協助您的子女選擇適合他們程度的中文書籍，請把握這個難得的親子共讀時光唷！大家一起加油吧!!

1. VOTE NO on SCA-5 反對SCA-5 提案
加州州議會正在審議的SCA-5法案正牽動每一位亞裔家長的心。該法案將為通過投票改變1998年Prop.209確立的關於加州公立高等教育機構 （UC和Cal-State）不得以種族等因素作為招生考量因素的法律。該提案已經在1月30日在州參議院通過，現已提交州眾議院討論。如果通過，亞裔學生入學加大和州大的難度將更大。這一法案的命運值得每位亞裔人士關注。
這個法案仍需要經過一定的立法程序才能完成。您可以通過多種管道來熟悉這個提案，也可以通過多種方式來表達您的立場和態度。我們將持續更新相關信息。
2. 為落實服務南加各地區僑民，駐洛杉磯台北經濟文化辦事處將於3月22日至聖地牙哥提供領務收件服務，地點在「聖地牙哥華人服務中心」（5075 Ruffin Road, Suite A, San Diego, California,92123）欲申辦護照、文件驗證及簽證之僑胞可多加利用。另因場地時間及人力限制，現場將發放100個號碼牌（授權書類50位申請人，護照及簽證類50位申請人），依號碼順序收件，號碼牌發完後恕不再受理；所有申請文件將攜回本處製作完成後再郵寄回申請人。相關資訊可於上班時間電洽213-389-1215 或本處網頁查詢。
