1. Continuing previous years’ tradition, we would like to include the winning Speech Contest entries in the Yearbook. If your child won 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place recognition in the SDCA 2011-2012 Speech Contest, and you are interested in placing your child's winning entry in the Yearbook, please send the soft copy of the speech to sushe_2000@yahoo.com by Sunday, 3/18. 1. One of our parents recently shared his experience of Kawasaki Disease (KD). KD is easily misdiagnosed. Both its rarity and the fact that it occurs mostly in Asian boys who are under 5 years old contribute to the general lack of awareness. If your young son experiences high fever, swollen Lymph Node, rashes, red eyes, and/or strawberry tongue at any time, you might want to look into KD. 2. On 2/21/2012 The U.S. Supreme Court decided to hear whether the ground of "ethnicity" college entrance requirement is unconstitutional. The organization 80-20 National Asian American Educational Foundation will file a "friend of the court" legal brief with the Supreme Court, advocating a race neutral and merit-based college admission policy. The organization is calling all parents, especially Asian parents, to support it by casting “yes” on a survey it is conducting that will be filed as part of the legal brief.
