2. Continued Learning in Summer -- Study shows that children learn best when instruction is continuous. The summer vacation breaks the rhythm of instruction, leads to forgetting, and requires a significant amount of review of material when students return to school in the fall. Parents can help preventing summer learning loss by encouraging your child to: 1) complete the summer homework package distributed by your teacher, 2) make a plan to review the textbooks on a regular basis throughout the summer, 3) venture in Chinese Learning Resources that are provided at our website: http://sandiegochineseschool.com/new/links.htm. 暑假中文繼續練習 - - 研究發現連續練習對孩子的學習效果最好。放暑假容易打破教學的節奏，導致孩子忘記學習內容，導致秋天開學前需要大量的複習舊教材。家長可以在暑假時幫助孩子學習: 1）規定完成老師給的暑假作業，2）定一個計劃, 整個夏天用固定時間來複習教科書，3）參考學校網站上的學習資源。

3. 5/5 is 2nd semester final. Please remind your child to prepare for it. Afterwards, it is party time for many classes. It is also a good time to reflect on the school year and express appreciation to those who deserve it. First of all, our families deserve a pat on the back. Without you, the committed parents and students, our school won’t exist. Appreciation also goes to our teachers! Overseas Chinese education is not an easy endeavor. We don’t have our own school facility, our teachers do not have benefit package. What they have are love for students and passion for teaching. To use a popular commercial phrase: summer all-day teacher meeting, $35; weekly class preparation, $0; seeing her students strive in Chinese, PRICELESS. Reminder for Curbside Drop-off and Pick-up ONLY: 學生上下車接送區提醒
Please park your car at the parking area only. Curbside is for loading and unloading only; please do not park or wait by the curbside. Also do not leave the car unattended. NO EXCEPTION. Thank you for being considerate that other parents also dropping off their children. The curbside right in front of the school building are for parents who are pulling over to drop their children off and then driving away. Cars parked there for a longer time cause us to have a dangerous back up. 請把車停在停車格上。黃線和白線區是接送學生上下車區，不可停車或暫停等人。 請駕駛人不要離開車。沒有例外。 請體諒其他家長也再送他們的孩子上課。感謝家長讓孩子下車後就馬上把車開走或停好在停車格上。

4. PTA is collecting gifts for the raffles at the Teacher’s Appreciation Party. We are a non-profit school, so your donation is tax deductible. It is time to check your closet and put those unused gifts to good use. You can drop off your gifts with the volunteer at the Teacher’s Office. Thank you! 5. LOST & FOUND: In case you didn’t know, there is a Lost & Found Box in the Office. If you see anything that belongs to an SDCA student/parent and is left in the classroom or at the play area, please kindly send it in. So far we’ve got 2 children’s jackets, 1 USB flash drive, several folders that were left at the Community Hall after the Poem Recitation Competition. Hopefully all the items will be picked up by their owners. Please pay attention to your email box - you have received an invitation email from support@sandiegochineseschool.com for you to start using the registration system; your registration link and step-by-step instructions are provided in that email. Payment still needs to be made by check - payable to SDCA. You can either mail your payment to SDCA-Registration, PO Box 910093, San Diego, CA 92191-0093, or pay at school office on 4/21, 4/28, or 5/5. Registration Team will be in the office collecting payment and helping with online registration for all parents. Pre-registration Information and Reminder will also be emailed to you through Weekly Announcement emails from Teachers. You’ll need to register and make payment by 5/19 to get the $50 registration fee waived. Your attention and cooperation will be highly appreciated.
